Requirements to rent a car in Guatemala

What Vribe verifies before your first booking

To book on Vribe you need three things: verified identity, a verified and unexpired driver's license, and an account that isn't suspended. Vribe sets no minimum age of its own; the license is the requirement. Verification happens once and covers all your bookings.

What you need in order to book

Four conditions, and the system checks them when you book — not after you pay.

  • Verified identity: you upload your document and Vribe reviews it before you can book.
  • A verified driver's license.
  • An unexpired license: if it lapsed, booking stops until you upload the current one.
  • An active account, with no suspension in force.

When verification happens

Before the booking is created, not at the end of checkout. If your identity or license is missing, the booking isn't created and the app tells you which one. That's deliberate: finding out you're missing a document after paying would be the worst way to learn it.

An expired license is its own case

A license lapsing doesn't erase your verification — the only thing blocked is booking. Upload the current one and you're back in good standing. Vribe keeps verification documents for a limited period and then deletes them; the detail is in the privacy policy.

The host is verified too

The vehicle goes through its own review before it's published, including the host's current insurance policy. Each host also decides whether their vehicle books instantly or whether they approve each request; when they approve manually, they have 24 hours to respond.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum age to rent on Vribe?
Vribe doesn't set a minimum age of its own. The requirement is a valid, verified driver's license on your account.
Do I need a credit card?
The rental is paid by credit or debit card through Stripe. Vribe doesn't accept cash for the rental.
Can I book with a license from another country?
The trip contract records your license's country and expiry date, so a foreign license can be verified. What that license lets you do in Guatemala is defined by the country's law, not by Vribe.
