Last updated: August 2026 · How to opt out of sharing with advertising platforms
This page exists because California law requires a clear link to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data. We offer it to everyone, wherever they live: if the option is good for someone in California, we see no reason why someone in Guatemala should have to ask for it.
1. Vribe does not sell your data
We do not sell access to your personal data to third parties for money, and we never have. There is no data business behind Vribe: the business is the commission the host pays on a completed booking, and it is published in the Fees policy.
2. But the law calls something else «sharing»
When you accept the advertising category, data about your browsing is sent to the platforms where we advertise, to measure campaigns and show you Vribe ads outside the Platform. We receive no money for that — the opposite, we pay to advertise — but California law considers it «sharing» all the same, and rightly: to you the effect is identical, your data reached a third party. Denying it on the grounds that no money changed hands would be true and misleading at once.
3. How to opt out, right now
With the same preferences panel that sits at the foot of every page. You switch off the advertising category and the change applies instantly: we stop sending data and delete from your browser the cookies those tools had left. There is no form to fill in, no request for someone to process, and no waiting.
4. What happens next
You will still see ads on the internet, but they will not be Vribe ads based on your browsing of the Platform. Your account, your bookings and everything else work exactly the same: advertising is the only category whose switching off does not affect the service. Your choice is stored in your browser for twelve months. If you have an account, it is also saved to it: that way it follows you when you change device, and we can honour it even where cookies do not reach — for example, when we confirm a booking from our servers. If you clear cookies without having signed in, you are asked again.
5. Other rights
Opting out of sharing is one of the rights you can exercise. You can also access your data, correct it, ask for it to be deleted, restrict or object to processing, and request a portable copy. They are all in the Privacy Policy, with the route to exercise them: write to privacy@vribe.app from your account's email address.
What this page is not
It is not a request form: you make the change and it takes effect instantly, with nobody reviewing it. It does not delete your account or your data — that is the right to erasure, which is different and is requested by email. And it does not affect essential categories, which cannot be switched off because without them you could not sign in or pay.
In the event of any discrepancy between the translated versions of this document, the Spanish version prevails.
