Vribe's three cancellation policies

Flexible, Moderate and Strict: what changes between them

Every vehicle carries one of three cancellation policies — Flexible, Moderate or Strict — chosen by its host. What changes between them is how long before the start you can cancel without penalty. The policy governing your booking is frozen when you book: if the host changes it afterwards, your booking keeps the one you accepted.

What changes between the three

The penalty-free window, counted from the start of the trip. With Flexible, the refund stops being full within the last 24 hours. With Moderate, within 72 hours. With Strict, within 7 days. Outside that window, cancelling returns the full rental.

How much comes back inside the window

With Flexible, one day of rental is deducted. With Moderate, half comes back within 72 hours and nothing within 24. With Strict, half within 7 days and nothing within 48 hours. The security deposit is separate: it comes back in full on any cancellation.

Which one applies to your booking

The one the vehicle had when you booked. It's frozen along with the rate, so a later change by the host can't cut your refund. A vehicle that declares no policy is treated as Moderate. That vehicle's refund tiers are shown at checkout, before you pay.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the dates instead of cancelling?
Yes, with one condition: date changes aren't allowed if cancelling at that moment would already carry a penalty. That lock is deliberate, so dates can't be pushed into the future to dodge a penalty already incurred.
What if the host cancels?
The refund is full. The policy tiers apply to cancellations by the traveler.
And if the handover never happens?
It's treated as a full refund, the same as a cancellation by the host.
