Fees and commissions

Vribe earns when the host earns: the platform charges the host a commission, deducted from their payout, and adds nothing to the traveler on top of the host's price — except on vehicles rented without placing a hold on the card, where the price already includes the no-hold fee. This document explains what the commission is calculated on, how your percentage is determined, when it's deducted, what the traveler pays on those vehicles, and what happens when a booking is cancelled or modified.
Definitions
- Booking:
- The agreement between a traveler and a host for the use of a vehicle on specific dates, created on the platform and governed by the contract both sign.
- Rental:
- The amount corresponding to use of the vehicle for the booked period, excluding deposit and delivery fee.
- Security deposit:
- Refundable amount that answers for damage, missing items, fuel, fines and other charges under the contract.
- Delivery fee:
- Optional charge set by the host for bringing the vehicle to the traveler.
- Payout:
- The payment Vribe transfers to the host for a booking, with the commission already deducted.
1. What Vribe charges, and to whom
Vribe charges two things, and never both to the same person. The host, on every booking: a commission on the rental, deducted from their payout. The traveler, only when the vehicle is rented without placing a hold on their card: the no-hold fee, already included in the price they see. On vehicles that do require a security deposit, the traveler pays no fee to the platform. These are the items that appear in a booking and who each one belongs to:
- Rental for the period: set by the host and theirs, less the commission.
- Delivery fee, if the traveler chooses delivery: set by the host based on distance and also theirs, less the commission.
- Security deposit: not a fee. It is refundable and generates no commission for anyone.
- Vribe's commission: the platform's only revenue on a booking.
2. The host commission, by volume
The percentage is not fixed: it goes down as the host completes more trips. The tiers below are calculated with the same function that applies the deduction to your payout, so this table cannot fall out of sync with the actual charge.

2.1 What amount it is calculated on
The commission applies to the booking base, which is the rental for the period, the delivery fee if there was one and, on a trip with chauffeur, the chauffeur rate and the extras the traveler chose. It does not apply to the security deposit, which is refundable and not revenue, nor to the no-hold fee, which is Vribe's revenue and not the host's. The commission is never added on top of the host's price for the traveler: it is deducted from what the host receives — which is why the host earns the same with or without a deposit.
2.2 How your tier is determined
Your tier for this month is calculated from the trips you completed in the PREVIOUS CALENDAR MONTH, and stays fixed for the whole current month. It resets on the 1st: if last month you did not reach the next threshold, this month you return to the base tier. This is deliberate, so you know from day 1 what commission you will pay and it does not change mid-month.
2.3 When it is deducted
The commission is not charged in advance or when the booking is confirmed: it is deducted when your payout is released, after the trip is completed and the review window has passed with no damage reported. If the trip never happens, there is no commission.
3. The commission is frozen on each booking
When a booking is created, the rate in force at that moment is stored on it and never recalculated. This matters in two specific situations.
3.1 Why it is frozen
If the rate were recalculated at payout time, a host could end up paying a different commission from the one they saw when accepting the booking, simply because their tier changed in between. The rate applied is always the one in force when the booking was created.
3.2 What happens in a cancellation with a penalty
When a cancellation leaves a penalty in the host's favor, that penalty is split using the same frozen commission from the booking: it is treated as a normal rental, not as a separate case. The host receives their share and Vribe theirs, at the percentage already fixed.
4. The delivery fee
It is optional and set by the host in distance ranges for their vehicle. Three points about it:
- It is charged together with the booking and goes to the host, not to Vribe.
- It forms part of the commission base, just like the rental.
- If the booking is cancelled with a full refund, the delivery fee is refunded along with the rest.
5. What the traveler pays, and what they don't
The price you see in search results and at checkout is the final price: nothing is added at payment time. There are no cleaning charges, no platform-use charges, and no charge for paying with one card instead of another. The only thing that appears separately in the charge is the security deposit, when the vehicle requires one, and it is returned when the trip closes without incident. What the price includes on no-hold vehicles. These vehicles are rented without holding or blocking money on your card during the trip. The price you see already includes the no-hold fee for that, and nothing is added at payment: what you see is what is charged. The no-hold fee is not insurance and does not change your liability: if there is damage, you are responsible for it under the rental agreement, just like on any other booking. What changes is that you don't have to leave money frozen in order to rent. On vehicles that require a security deposit, the traveler pays no fee to the platform. If Vribe ever charges the traveler a fee other than this one, it would be announced here before being applied.
6. Taxes and currency
Vribe does not take part in either party's tax obligations or in your bank's currency conversion.
6.1 Taxes
Each party is responsible for its own tax obligations. Vribe does not withhold, report or remit taxes on behalf of hosts or travelers, nor issue tax documents in their name. A host's income may be taxable in their jurisdiction.
6.2 Currency
All amounts are expressed and processed in US dollars. If your card is issued in another currency, your bank applies its own exchange rate and may charge a conversion fee: that charge is between you and your bank, and Vribe receives no part of it.
7. Changes to fees
Vribe may change its commissions with prior notice. A change never affects bookings already created: because the rate is frozen on each booking, what was agreed at booking time is what gets settled.
What this policy is not
It does not set prices: the daily rate, the deposit and the delivery fee are decided by each host for their vehicle. Nor is it a promise of earnings: how much you make depends on your demand, your location and your costs. And it does not cover refunds, which are governed by the Cancellations and Changes Policy and the Deposits and Payments Policy.
