Referral & promotional credit program

Last updated: August 2026 · Terms and conditions of Vribe credit

These terms govern Vribe promotional credit: the welcome credit for new travelers, rewards for inviting friends and hosts, and how credit is used on bookings.

Definitions

Booking:
The agreement between a traveler and a host for the use of a vehicle on specific dates, created on the platform and governed by the contract both sign.
Rental:
The amount corresponding to use of the vehicle for the booked period, excluding deposit and delivery fee.
Security deposit:
Refundable amount that answers for damage, missing items, fuel, fines and other charges under the contract.

1. Welcome credit

Every new traveler receives US$15 in promotional credit when creating their account, whether they arrive through an invitation or on their own.

1.1 When it is issued and what it is for

It is issued at registration, without you having to ask for it or enter a code. It is valid only for your FIRST booking: it cannot be saved for later or split across several trips, and it expires 90 days after issuance.

1.2 If Vribe pauses issuance

Issuance of new credit may be paused at any time and without prior notice. That does not affect credit already issued: what is in your balance is honored until its expiry date.

2. Referral reward

When the person you invited completes their first qualifying booking, you receive US$15 in credit, valid for 12 months.

2.1 How the invitation is linked

The link between inviter and invitee is established through your personal link, at the moment the invitee creates their account. If that person already had a Vribe account, there is no invitation to link and no reward is generated.

2.2 When it is paid

The reward is not paid when your invitee registers, but when their first qualifying booking is completed. Before that the invitation exists, but the reward has not been earned yet.

3. What a qualifying booking is

Not just any booking by the invitee triggers the reward. To qualify it must meet all four conditions at once:

  • Its rental subtotal must be US$100 or more, excluding deposit and delivery fee, and before applying any credit.
  • It must be completed within 180 days of the invitee's registration.
  • It must be that person's first qualifying booking.
  • The rental must not have been refunded. Release of the security deposit does not count as a refund: that is returning what was yours, not undoing the booking.

4. Referred hosts

The program also rewards bringing hosts. If your invitee lists their vehicle and completes 3 trips within the program window without cancelling any themselves, you each receive US$50 in credit. Host-initiated cancellations break the condition: the reward is for hosts who deliver, not hosts who merely show up.

5. Program caps

There are two limits, and they work differently. Per user: a maximum of 10 rewarded referrals per calendar year; referral number 11 generates no reward, although the invitee still keeps their welcome credit. And globally there is a monthly issuance cap: if it is reached, your reward is not lost — the referral is marked as qualified and the credit is issued automatically once there is room again.

6. How credit is used

Available credit is applied on its own, without you activating it, and always to the rental subtotal.

6.1 What it applies to and what it does not

It's applied to the host's price and nothing else. It never covers the no-hold fee, the security deposit or the home delivery fee, which are always charged to your card. It also doesn't apply to difference payments for a date change or to the delta of a trip extension: those are paid in cash.

6.2 Why it is applied automatically

Credit expires, so holding it does not benefit you. That is why it is applied as soon as there is a booking where it can be used, with the line visible in the checkout breakdown before you pay.

7. What happens to credit if you cancel or change dates

This is the rule most worth understanding before using credit. If you cancel a booking paid with credit, the applied credit IS LOST entirely, and the cash refund is calculated only on what you actually paid by card. If instead of cancelling you change the dates, the credit is preserved, and if the new trip is cheaper the surplus returns to your balance. And if the host is the one who cancels, or the vehicle is never handed over, the applied credit returns to your balance in full: you do not pay for someone else's failure.

8. Expiry

Each credit has its own date: 90 days for the welcome credit and 12 months for rewards, counted from issuance. Expired credit is automatically deducted from the balance and cannot be recovered or extended. When you hold several credit lots, the one expiring soonest is used first.

9. Anti-abuse

The program rewards bringing real users. Rewards are void for multiple accounts belonging to the same person, self-invitations, cards shared between accounts, and simulated bookings between acquaintances to trigger the reward. Vribe may reverse credit granted — up to the available balance — block the balance of the accounts involved and exclude them from the program. If the credit was already spent, the reversal reaches whatever remains.

10. Nature of the credit

Credit is promotional: it is not money or stored value, it is not transferable between accounts, it is not redeemable for cash and has no refund value. It bears no interest and forms no part of any claim enforceable against Vribe. It is a discount conditional on using the platform.

11. Changes to the program

These terms apply to the program currently running in Guatemala and may be updated; the version published on this page is the applicable one. Vribe may change the amounts, conditions or caps, and even end the program, at any time. A change never erases credit already issued: what is in your balance is honored until expiry under the rules it was issued with.

What the program is NOT

It is not a financial instrument, a gift card or a means of payment. It is not bought, sold or transferred. Vribe may modify or end the program at any time; credits already issued are honored until they expire.

In the event of any discrepancy between the translated versions of this document, the Spanish version prevails.
